August monthly meeting - Wilma Kingery will give a demonstration on tatting. Anyone interested in trying their hand at it will be given the opportunity to try.

September monthy meeting - Donna Nelson will demonstrate needle-turn applique. Members should bring a small pair os scissors for clipping threads.

“Sew Happy Hearts Quilters” … Quilting Naturally…
The regular meeting of Sew Happy Hearts was held Thursday, July 22, 2010 at the Neoga Municipal Building. The meeting was opened by Program Vice Sarah Grieder in the absence of President Pam Romack. The pledge of allegiance was given and then a moment of silence was held.
Wilma Kingery will present a demonstration of the fading art of “tatting” being seen in the quilt world of today at the August 26th meeting. Bring your tatting shuddle or needle and projects to share. There will be supplies available for all to join in the art of tatting.
Vice Grieder welcomed new members Myra Thornton and Marianne Morgan. Molly Grimes and Ann Hearn were recognized as our quests. The special guest for the evening was Kate Laskowski from Main Street Quilt Company, in Shelbyville. She did a demonstration on the double diamond and the twister rules. She shared items made with the use of these rulers and others. She brought many things for viewing, shopping and enjoying from her store.
Quilt Show Vice Eileen Burrell gave a thank you to all involved with the successful quilt show. Treasurer Jan Albin gave a summary of the quilt show in her report.
Service Project Chairman Karen Lindley showed several samples of projects to be sewn in the September 11 Service Project Workshop. There will be kits for some projects; pattern and material for others. The workshop will be at the Grace United Methodist Church in Neoga from 9 am to 3 pm.
Shop Bee Lynn Breer distributed the fat quarter kits for the 2010 Challenge. The projects will be shared in February and will be on display at the 2011 Quilt Show.
The fat quarter give-away drawing was won by Shirley Easton and Karen Lindley. The theme for July was vegetable or fruit and the August theme is animal prints. Join in the fun. Bring an animal print fat quarter to the meeting to be in the drawing.
Up coming classes and events were shared. The “four patch posie” class will be taught by Marianne Snowden August 28th . The “Sparkly Star” class will be taught by Lynn Mears October 23rd. The retreat will be November 5 though 7 at Threads of Time. There will be a “sashiko” stitching class offered during the retreat. Lynn Breer is the chairman of the nominating committee and Amy Durdel will join her in this effort. The slate of officers will be present at the September meeting and the election will be held in October.
Grieder recognized Frances Hoene and Jean Harder as the hostesses for July. Frances showed her “milky way” quilt and Jean shared her “log cabin” quilt. Refreshments were enjoyed by twenty-one members and four guests.
